Burt Thompson is a survivor appearing in Dead Rising and Dead Rising: Chop Till You Drop.

He is found barricaded in a clothing store in Al Fresca Plaza during the scoop Barricade Pair with his friend Aaron Swoop.

Unlike any other survivor in Dead Rising, he is immediately hostile towards Frank and will attack him on sight.

Barricade Pair

Burt is found with his friend Aaron Swoop inside a barricaded store in Al Fresca Plaza. When Frank breaks down their barricade to enter the store, Burt will attack him with a baseball bat under the impression that Frank is a psychopath.

After Frank hits him back five times, he surrenders. Frank then explains that he is here to bring them back to a safer place. Burt agrees to follow Frank, which will also cause Aaron to join.

Ronald's Appetite

Main article: Ronald's Appetite

After being rescued, he will wait in the room with the blue door. When Ronald Shiner complains about the lack of food, he rallies up the other survivors in the same room, including Burt, to head out and look for food.

If Frank does not stop Ronald's mutiny, Burt will leave the Security Room along with the other survivors in the same room. They will no longer count towards the number of rescued survivors.

Infinity Mode

Main article: Infinity Mode

Burt appears at the Heliport from 5:07:00 to 5:19:00, armed with a battle axe. When killed, Burt drops a jug of Coffee Creamer, a Cleaver, a Shovel, a Nailgun, and a Paint Can.

Trivia

• Burt's picture is used for the Item Smasher achievement. This could be because he attempts to hit Frank with a baseball bat when they first meet. 
• If Aaron dies before Burt is recruited, he will absolutely refuse to follow Frank; accusing him of Aaron's death.
  • On the other hand, if Frank kills Burt, Aaron will scream "AH!!! No, get away from me! Don't kill me!". If interacted to, Frank will say, "Unless you're in a hurry to die, you shut the hell up and follow me! We don't need any extra noise.", and Aaron joins.
• Aaron and Burt's barricade will remain intact if Frank tears it down without recruiting either of them and exits the plaza before entering again.
• Burt shares the same surname with Regina Thompson, a survivor in Dead Rising 3
