Story

Tape it or Die

The following is a summary of Gretchen's relevant blog posts on Tape it or Die. For the detailed transcript of each blog post, see Tape it or Die/Blog Posts.

Zombrex - Too Little Too Late

Gretchen discusses the zombie disease and its symptoms. She points out that the zombification symptoms as printed on the box of a Zombrex dose are relatively late, many of them occurring close to or after conversion. She adds that readers should be aware of several symptoms that could be present immediately after infection.

An Open Letter to My Customers regarding Zombrex

Written in letter format, Gretchen complains about certain customers of the O Street Pharmacy regarding Zombrex. In particular, she explains the high cost of the drug, the consideration of purchasing Zombrex in massive quantities, the intake schedule of Zombrex, and administering Zombrex to infected animals.

Staying Healthy, Staying in Shape, Staying Alive

Gretchen uses the example of an old friend from Willamette, Ricky Lloyd, to illustrate the importance of staying in shape during a zombie outbreak.

This is Embarrassing

After Wallace incites an argument between "Left Hand" Lance and Johnny Pipes about who deserves to have his extra ticket to the Terror is Reality show in Fortune City, Gretchen admonishes all three parties. She scolds Wallace for goading the other two with his tickets, Johnny and Lance for forgoing dignity and bickering like children, and the other commenters for encouraging their ongoing quarrel.

In the end, she decides to purchase two extra tickets so all four of them can attend the Terror is Reality show together - inadvertently putting all four of them in the soon-to-be zombie outbreak.

Fighting both PETA and CURE: A Brief Look at the Zombie Zoo

Gretchen explains the operation of zombie zoos and how they recruit zombie animals. She brings up ethical issues with animal rights groups and zombie rights groups. She also uses the example of using zombification to prolong the "life" of old and/or diseased animals to discuss the possibility of immortality through zombie research.

TiR Attendee Roll Call

Gretchen lists the names of Tape it or Die participants who will be attending the Terror is Reality show in an effort to organize a Tape it or Die meet up.

Advice: Avoid the Zombie Opera

After arriving at Fortune City and sightseeing, Gretchen complains about the zombie opera. She goes on the mention that she looks forward to seeing the zombie zoos and the Terror is Reality show.

#Liveblogging: CURE Members in Front of the Fortune City Arena

Getting ready to attend the Terror is Reality show, Gretchen complains that Wallace neglected to mention that he and Lance will be sitting in a VIP section, while she and Johnny will be seated together. She also shows several sightings of CURE members protesting outside the arena, and calls them "pathetic."

everyone out there, olease help me!!! [sic]

After the zombie outbreak strikes at Fortune City, Gretchen is separated from everybody and has lost her phone. She is lost in a dark place, and asks for help on the website. In her panicked state, her typing is uncharacteristically muddled with typographical errors.

Co-operating to survive

After finally reaching a safe haven constructed by Johnny Pipes, Gretchen regains some of her composure. She explains in detail that a terrorist attack has struck the Terror is Reality event, possibly caused by CURE or TiR contestant Chuck Greene. She pleads for survivors to contact them, and outlines their plan to search for and rescue other survivors by heading out one at a time.

Zombrex Is Not a Cure

Gretchen gives an account of something she experienced in the past few days - after shooting a zombie, she picks up her purse and finds a wallet with ID (identifying her as Susan) as well as a used Zombrex dose, suggesting that she was infected prior to the outbreak. The empty box also states clearly that Zombrex is not a cure. This leads to her contemplating why Phenotrans has not developed a one-off cure, and whether CURE is correct in thinking that they purposefully keep a cure from being created.

ZOMBREX IS NOT A CURE 2

After further thinking, Gretchen realizes that an average person could be potentially worth five-and-a-half million dollars to Phenotrans in terms of Zombrex purchases. She rationalizes that no cure would be worth that much, and CURE is correct about Zombrex being not a cure, but a means to extract money from infected survivors. She decides that vandalizing Zombrex advertisements is a small step towards protesting Phenotrans.

I May be a Horrible Person for Posting This, But...

Gretchen starts off the the post by rementioning that she was offering an invitation to any survivor to stay in their studio, but then announces that she is rescinding the offer to four other outbreak survivors. She explains that she came across these "children" while walking through South Plaza, searching for possible stragglers. What she came across these four survivors in a construction zone, playing a board game while a large amount of junk food surrounds them. As she approached them, she hears them bickering over things, which she originally thought was conversation about an escape plan. Instead, it turned out they were debating over the game they were playing.

Gretchen waited out of sight for several minutes, trying to get into the conversation for a free moment, but after 15 minutes of the same argument in regards to a character's shoes, she starts to get fed up. She then begins to describe their clothing, implying that one of them was wearing a mad scientist costume, and another wearing a bonnet and a poodle skirt. Gretchen decides in the end to just leave, but after accidently knocking over a piece of rebar, the survivors notice her.

The four survivor's conversation is written down on the post, and Gretchen mentions she is not kidding when it shows that the survivors just seemed to be attracted to her in an odd way, one of the survivors even blatantly suggesting Gretchen came to "make sweet love to them". In what Gretchen herself considers a stupid move, she asked the survivors if they were willing to come with her to the studio, though the only reply she got from them was some "crass, and quite frankly awkward" innuendo. Gretchen then turned around, but she heard the survivors snickering behind her, and later found out they placed their buisness cards in her back pocket. She then shows screenshots of all four cards, each one appearing to represent a nerd stereotype. She finishes the post off by saying she hopes it'll change the survivor's ways if they see this, though she doubts it.

Dead Rising 2

She is also a survivor in Dead Rising 2, hiding in a studio with her co-bloggers.
