The katana is a weapon in Dead Rising 2: Case West and Dead Rising 2: Off the Record.
It can be combined with a sickle to create the Reaper. This standard katana has a less ornate appearance than the katana sword used by Amber and Crystal, resembling its Dead Rising counterpart. The katana differs from the katana sword in that the former can be used to make the Reaper, while the latter cannot.
In Case West, it can only be found in certain areas of the map, most commonly in the Living Quarters. In Off the Record, a katana can be found on the cinema rooftop in the Platinum Strip and in the underground tunnels. It can also be found in the kitchen of Luaii Wauwii in the Silver Strip. It does not appear in the original Dead Rising 2.
The Blades and Games magazines will each give 3x durability to the katana if they are in the player's inventory. The durability boosts will stack if the player has both magazines (two magazine icons should appear above the weapon's icon instead of one).
