The Laser Gun is a combo weapon in Dead Rising 2: Case West and Dead Rising 2: Off the Record. It serves as an upgraded version of the Lightning Gun, and is created by combining a Laser Sword with a Lightning Gun.

The Laser Gun fires a thin beam of purple lightning that explodes after a few seconds, releasing a powerful burst of thunder that damages anything in its path. The buildup to the explosion consists of swirling lights, resulting in the target zombie exploding. The electrical burst generated by the explosion is capable of killing nearby enemies, including Chuck or Frank if they are within range. It can also detonate any explosive objects in the blast radius. It is powerful enough to kill a security in one shot.

The combo card for this weapon is awarded for assisting Jerry Sampson with a research project he claims to have been working on. In Off the Record, the combo card is awarded upon reaching level 50.

Main attack (press /)	Fire a powerful energy blast that strikes a zombie and explodes after approximately two seconds. The resulting explosion emits a highly concentrated electrical shockwave that kills any zombies within a three-foot radius. It is extremely effective against gas zombies and Phenotrans employees, such as security guards and zombie handlers, although it requires about three shots to neutralize hazard units. Nevertheless, the Laser Gun remains one of the most lethal weapons in the game.

	Gems	Living Quarters	The Gems are found in the Living Quarters. On the top floor of rooms, find the room labeled "X1." The Gems will be inside that room on a nightstand beside the bed.
Lightning Gun	Blast Frequency Gun	Harvesting Room	The Blast Frequency Gun is found on the second floor of the Harvesting Room, propped up against one of the yellow control panels.
	Electric Prod	Zombie Handlers	The Electric Prods can be obtained from any Zombie Handler. There are always two Zombie Handlers right outside the Shipping Office.

Tips

• As the Laser Gun deals heavy splash damage, caution is advised in co-op mode to avoid downing your partner.
• The shots from the Laser Gun have a slight delay between being fired and the explosion.

Trivia

• The Laser Gun is the only combo weapon in the game to be made with two different combo weapons, and one of the two combo weapons to incorporate a combo weapon in their recipe, the other being the Blitzkrieg, which is crafted using an Electric Chair and an Assault Rifle/LMG/Merc Assault Rifle.
  • Because of this, it can be considered a super combo weapon before Dead Rising 3 even introduced the concept.
• The Laser Gun is essentially a makeshift railgun, which eventually became an actual weapon in Dead Rising 3.
• In a development release dated October 18, 2010, the Laser Gun was referred to as the Power Blaster.
