Maintenance rooms are rooms with workbenches found around Fortune City that allow Chuck Greene and Frank West to craft custom weapons by placing two compatible items upon them.

In Dead Rising 2 and Off the Record, the player acquires the maintenance room key from Ray Sullivan. This occurs after watching Rebecca Chang's news story Case 1-1: Big News. During Case 1-2: Alive on Location, on the way to leaving the Safe House for the first time to meet Rebecca Chang in the Fortune City Hotel, the player will speak to Sullivan on the way out. Sullivan gives the player the maintenance room key. See the full dialogue.

The Maintenance Room Key grants them access to the many maintenance rooms scattered across Fortune City. Each of these rooms provides Frank or Chuck with the basic tools he needs to combine items into combo weapons.

Dead Rising 2

The Combo Bay is a motorbike trailer left behind by Leon Bell after the mission Meet the Contestants is successfully completed. The Combo Bay is a special maintenance room where Chuck can build combo bikes or repaint his motorcycles with spray paint cans.

The Combo Bay is parked on the Silver Strip, just outside the front entrance to the Yucatan Casino.

Examples of combo bike designs are posted on the inside of the trailer, such as the Slicecycle, the Green Machine, or the Bazooka Bike, but crafting any of them will not create a combo card or a scratch card.

Off the Record

In Off the Record, the motorbike trailer belongs to Chuck Greene instead of Leon, and is instead unlocked after the mission People Like Us. This is just a cosmetic change, however, as it functions identially to the trailer in the original Dead Rising 2.

Trivia

In Case Zero, the zombies will not enter the maintenance rooms, whereas they will in Dead Rising 2, Case West, and Off the Record. Maintenance Room were called "Combo Rooms" in early demos of the game.
