The Newscaster is an unnamed character in Dead Rising 2. He worked for Channel 6 Action News and reported the Terror Is Reality game show as well as the subsequent zombie outbreak in Fortune City. The newscaster reappears in Dead Rising 2: Off the Record with the same role, though his dialogue has been adjusted to fit with the storyline.

The newscaster reports on the Terror Is Reality event taking place in Fortune City, including the CURE protest led by Stacey Forsythe outside the arena. They interview two average citizens, Luke and his wife Leah, in the area and ask for their views on the controversial zombie rights organization, to which Luke incredulously asks why they want to save those "things".

After the zombie outbreak starts, the newscaster reports that they have received a broadcast from Channel 6's field reporter Rebecca Chang.
Case 7-1: Bad to Worse[]

The newscaster makes another report on the Fortune City outbreak, explaining that the zombies are confirmed to have undergone certain mutations, causing them to become more aggressive. He also reports that a rescue team was dispatched and no living survivors were found in the bunker.

- He is voiced by Brian Dobson, who also voices Jed Wright in Dead Rising 2: Case Zero. Brian is also one of the Dobson Brothers, another of which, Paul Dobson, voices Dwight Boykin in Dead Rising 2.
- Stuart Holmes' ID can be seen on the newscaster suit, reading "S. Holmes" and the same ID number.
- The newscaster also has the same character model as Stuart, and the Hunters' Victim, and a similar facial model with Fausto Vargas.
