Simon Merkin is a survivor appearing in Dead Rising 3.
Simon is involved in the side mission In the Cards and can be found on top of the Headshots Gun Store in Ingleton.
Simon is a superstitious man who only makes choices based on what Tarot Cards say. They're the only reason he decided to trust Nick and come with him. He doesn't seem to value his life that much, as when something as minor as him losing his Tarot Cards happens, he loses the will to go on and contemplates suicide. He also has the idea that the world hates him, which he will say if attacked by Nick/Dick.
Simon is also incredibly expressive, as he will typically yell when talking and will talk fast. It's possible that he has ADHD, or he's in a panic from the pressure of the outbreak. Either way, Simon is slightly cowardly, and will panic around zombies. No matter if he's just idling or in a horde of zombies, he'll act very erratic and cartoony.

Simon is found standing on the roof of the Headshots Gun Store during Chapter 2. When approached by Nick Ramos, he pleads for him to find his lost tarot cards. There are 5 cards in total which have been scattered to various locations in Ingleton.
- "Chariot" Card - Found on the ground at Dave's Awesome Cars.
- "Strength" Card - Found on the wrestling ring inside of the Aduna's Boxing Gym.
- "Death" Card - Found on the corpse sitting on a barber's chair at Shavey's.
- "Tower" Card - Found on the slide tower in the playground of Ingleton Park.
- "World" Card - Found in the Flying Duck Travel Center.
After collecting Simon's cards and returning them to him, he will join Nick's posse. He will be recruitable from the survivor board in the future.

Trivia[]
- Simon might be physically based on the cult character The Postal Dude Jr. from the video game Postal 2, as they both have similar faces, haircuts and clothing (They both wear long brown dusters).
- He may also be based on the Tenth Doctor from the famous show Doctor Who (Similar clothing).
- After completing his mission, Simon never mentions tarot cards again.
- For whatever reason, Simons lenses are completely opaque.
- Simon has the worst overall stats of any survivor Nick can recruit, although there are survivors with worse attack stats than him.
