Special Ops are a more modernized version of Special Forces from the original game that appear in Dead Rising 3.

They are sent in by Gen. John Hemlock to wipe out any survivors or illegals that are still alive in Los Perdidos. They are first encountered when disabling communication relays in Chapter 3, then again while fighting Hilde, and again while entering the military base in Ingleton in Chapter 5. They later appear during the fight with Red in the shipyard.

They can also be found attempting to block off the South Bridge in later parts of the game and will shoot rockets at Nick if he attempts to drive by.

Battle Style

During combat, Special Ops soldiers normally wield assault rifles. But during later parts of the campaign, some Special Ops soldiers are shown to use RPGs, a more specific example of this is during the boss fight with Red, where some of them fire missiles from the RPG while fighting Nick Ramos. Special Ops operatives also use flash grenades to gain a tactical advantage on players who attempt to engage in close quarters combat.

Special Ops agents are one of the toughest enemies in the entire game. Their heavy armor provides them with head-to-toe protection from the player's attacks. They can also inflict serious damage on the player, taking away huge chunks of health, more than what any zombie could do. Additionally, the are quick and can dodge and roll out of the player's attacks.

In Nightmare Mode, they are mode deadly than in the regular Story Mode and can take more damage and be more efficient than usual, which is why most recommend being more strategic rather than impulsive while fighting them.

Trivia

  • All Special Ops wear a skull mask with their helmets where as in Operation Broken Eagle, some of Kane's squad do not wear the masks.
  • The mask worn by Special Ops soldiers is almost identical to the ones worn by the Ghosts in the video game Call of Duty: Ghosts.
