—Combo Card Description

The Spiked Bat is a combo weapon in Dead Rising 2, Dead Rising 2: Case Zero, and Dead Rising 2: Off the Record, made by combining a baseball bat with a box of nails.

The spiked bat is the first weapon Chuck will craft, and also the first combo card he receives. It can be constructed many times at the beginning of the story line, as there is always a Baseball bat and a Box of nails in the first maintenance room.

Due to how easy it is to obtain and how many hits it will withstand, the Spiked Bat is one of the most effective weapons in Dead Rising 2. It can one-shot normal zombies, and is very effective at sweeping multiple enemies out of the way.

This combo weapon has been described as:

"Likely the very first combo weapon you make in "Dead Rising 2." Good thing it's super handy! The Spiked Bat acts like a regular bat, but it deals undeath a lot quicker, thanks to its many spikes."[1]

  • In June 2013, a Spanish man killed someone with a Spiked Bat inspired by this weapon.[3]
  • Like the paddlesaw, the spiked bat seems to be one of the premier weapons for Chuck, as he is wielding it on the Japanese box art.
  • Chuck does not need to find a combo card for this weapon in Dead Rising 2: Case Zero, as it is unlocked the moment Chuck uses a maintenance bench for the first time.
