cure for zombification is a briefly mentioned in Dead Rising 2: Case West and Dead Rising 3.

Dead Rising 2: Case West[]

Upon defeating Harjit Singh, the mastermind behind the Las Vegas outbreak, Frank West and Chuck Greene find out from Marian Mallon that there is in fact a cure to the zombie virus right before the Phenotrans Facility is set to self-destruct, making it too late for the cure to be found. It is believed that the cure had been destroyed within the destruction of the Phenotrans Facility.

Dead Rising 3[]

During Chapter 2 when Nick Ramos is bit, his bite mysteriously seems to regenerate - the first clue that his blood contains the cure to the virus. Later on in Chapter 4Red shows Nick a wanted poster that's offering a 5 million dollar reward for Nick and Diego that was put out by Marian Mallon. Mallon wants to find Nick and Diego so that she can establish which one has the cure for the virus so that she can create a cure.

When Nick finds Isabela Keyes during Chapter 7, she tells them the story of Santa Cabeza and reveals that Nick has the cure for the zombie virus in his blood, which is why it is important that they escape as soon as possible, as Marian will stop at nothing to manufacture a cure. It is revealed that Nick and Diego were one of Carlito's 50 infected orphans (hence the tattooed numbers on their necks).

Mallon is later killed over an argument over the cure's existence. General Hemlock tells Marian that this cure thing is "bullshit" and gets impatient with her, throwing her off of a building. After Nick defeats Hemlock and gets out of the city alive, he and Isabela manufacture a cure out of his blood. It is never revealed that Isabela worked together with Mallon and purposely started the Los Perdidos Outbreak in order to find Nick and manufacture a cure to clear her family's name after her brother's actions in Willamette.
